The PM8 is developed for vital signs monitoring in surgery and dentistry, ECG testing, and blood pressure (BP) measurements. The PM8 features three work modes: multi-parameter monitoring mode, ECG mode (specifically for ECG testing), and BP mode (specifically for diagnostic BP measurements). ![]() 6.8"X6.8"X8.8", 2 lbs, 6" screen

The PM8 saves monitoring records, ECG tracings, and BP readings on a USB flash drive for easy transfer of saved data to computers. The data are compatible with your existing practice management software (AVIMark, Cornerstone, DVM Manager, or any other practice management program). I. Monitoring During Anesthesia ECG and temperature monitoring The PM8 registers ECG, heart rate, and core-body temperature with an esophageal probe. It takes only seconds to insert the esophageal probe into the esophagus. Due to its proximity to the heart and ensured good contacts, the esophageal probe registers large and interference-free ECG even in your smallest patients. With no leads on the patient’s body, ECG monitoring has become much easier than ever before. VetSpecs® esophageal probes are available in three different sizes suitable for cats and dogs of all sizes, lizards, and ferrets. ![]() VetSpecs® Esophageal Probe (available in three sizes) If you do not want to use esophageal probes in dentistry, you can instead use the ECG leads (see the picture below) and a rectal temperature sensor. Pulse oximetry The PM8 features an array of veterinary-specific SpO2 sensors. A lingual sensor and a tail/paw sensor come standard with the VSM100, while a leg/toe sensor and a rectal sensor are optional. The SpO2 tail/paw sensor, leg/toe sensor, and rectal sensor are designed specifically for use in dentistry. Airway-direct respiration The PM8 employs the VetSpecs® proprietary airway-direct respiration technology, which registers respirations with an airway sensor inserted between the endotracheal tube and the breathing circuit. The airway-direct respiration, which provides real-time respiratory waveforms, a respiratory rate (RR), with apnea alarms, and works effectively in all intubated patients, is the only reliable respiratory monitoring technology for veterinary patients, except capnography. ![]() VetSpecs® Airway Sensor Blood pressure monitoring The PM8 features a breakthrough noninvasive BP technology developed specifically for use in cats, dogs, and other similar sized veterinary patients. Employing a cuff to occlude arterial flow and a pulse sensor band (see the picture below) to register arterial pulsations, this technology works in the same principle as the Doppler Method, but is much easier to use and totally automated. All you need to do is to wrap a cuff and the sensor band on a limb or the tail of the patient (see the drawing below). It is not necessary to locate a particular artery and clip the hair. This technology has been proven to be effective, accurate, and easy-to-use for cats and dogs of all sizes, anesthetized or conscious. It provides a systolic arterial pressure (SAP), a diastolic arterial pressure (DAP), and a mean arterial pressure (MAP), and a real-time pulse rate (PR).
II. Diagnostic BP measurements The PM8 will automatically switch to the BP mode when you do BP measurements. With this state-of-the art BP technology, the PM8 performs BP measurements in cats and dogs easily and quickly, with minimal intrusion to the patient. A BP measurement takes only 20 – 30 seconds. Multiple measurements can be done in just a few minutes. The PM8 automatically saves BP readings registered in each measurement, along with the averaged readings for all these measurements, on the USB flash drive. You can review the data on your computer with the included VetSpecs® software, and save in your patient database under your practice management system. III. ECG Testing The PM8 will automatically switch to the ECG mode when you do ECG testing. Simply attach the three leads with flat clips (see the picture below) on the patient. The PM8 automatically and continuously saves all registered ECG on the USB flash drive, which can be reviewed on your computer with the included VetSpecs® software. The ECG data can then be integrated into your patient database under your existing practice management software. You also can transfer the ECG data to any computers, email to anyone you want, and print in standard diagnostic format and quality through an office laser or ink-jet printer on regular plain papers. ![]() VetSpecs® ECG Leads with Flat Clips |
