Employing a VetSpecs® proprietary sensor technology, the WM5 is the only monitor on the market truly suitable for monitoring veterinary patients in anesthetic recovery or ICU. The WM5 consists of a Flex™ modular display platform (the picture above), a wireless ICU module, a pulse sensor band, a respiratory sensor, and a rectal temperature sensor, as shown below. To wirelessly monitor the pulse, respiration, and temperature of a patient located up to 60 feet (18 meters) away, simply wrap the pulse sensor band on a leg of the patient, and secure the wireless ICU module on the same leg with self-adherent elastic gauze, place the respiratory sensor to the patient’s abdomen and secure it with self-adherent elastic gauze, and apply the rectal temperature sensor, all with no need to clip the hair.

The WM5 saves all registered waveforms, readings, and trend graphics on a USB flash drive. Take the flash drive to your computer and transfer the saved data, which is compatible with ALL practice management software systems. You can review the data, and then print out a monitoring report through any office laser or ink-jet printer.

The WM5 offers the choice of micro-flow™ side-stream capnography or miniaturized mainstream capnography – the VetSpecs® Capno-M.

 

1. The Micro-flow™ Capnography Module

The micro-flow™ capnography module, as shown below, is ideal for use in both dentistry and surgery. With a sample flow rate as low as 50 ml/m, the micro-flow™ capnography is suitable for use in veterinary patients of all sizes. To apply, simply insert the airway adapter on the sample line between the endotracheal tube and the breathing circuit after the patient is intubated. Upon connecting the micro-flow™ capnography module, the WM5 enters the capnography mode, as shown above, which displays the following information, provides a respiratory sound, and saves registered waveforms, readings, and trend graphics on the USB flash drive.

2. VetSpecs® Capno-M

The Capno-M can be wirelessly linked to the WM5 (the Flex™ modular display platform). When the WM5 is not used for monitoring in ICU, you may wirelessly connect the Capno-M to the WM5. When the two are connected, the WM5 enters the capnography mode, as shown above, which displays the following information, provides a respiratory sound, and saves registered waveforms, readings, and trend graphics on the USB flash drive.

Flex™ Modular Display Platform

The WM5 is based on the same Flex™ modular display platform as the VetSpecs® Flex™ DM10. All the parameter modules available for the DM10 are also compatible with the WM5. If you later want to add the main module (containing ECG, pulse oximetry, airway-direct respiration, and temperature), the NIBP module, and/or the micro-flow™ capnography module to the WM5 to meet your growing diagnostic or monitoring needs, simply purchase the modules and connect them to the display platform when needed.
