I. Patient Monitoring

ALL Parameter Monitoring Mode

The Monitor offers multiple monitoring modes. In ALL parameter monitoring mode (shown above), the Monitor provides a heartbeat sound and a respiratory sound, and displays:

●  ECG
●  Pulse Waveforms
●  Blood Pressure Waveforms
●  CO2 Waveforms
●  Heart Rate and Pulse Rate
●  Respiratory Rate
●  Temperature
●  Systolic, Diastolic, and Mean Arterial Pressures
●  SpO2
●  End-tidal CO2 (EtCO2)
●  Fractional Inspired CO2 (FiCO2)

The Monitor automatically saves all registered waveforms, readings and trend graphics on a USB flash drive. Take the flash drive to your computer and transfer the saved data, which is compatible with ALL practice management software systems. You can then review the data and print out a monitoring report, as shown below, through any office printer.

1. ECG and Temperature

For monitoring in surgery, the SM100 registers ECG, heart rate and core temperature through an esophageal probe. With no lead wires or sensors attached to the patient’s body or legs, vital signs monitoring in surgery becomes easier and more effective than ever. The esophageal probes (shown below) are available in three sizes, suitable for use in ALL cats, dogs, and other similar-sized animals.

Esophageal Probes

For monitoring in dentistry, anesthetic recovery, and intensive care, the SM100 registers ECG, heart rate and rectal temperature through the ECG Leads with Limb Plates and Temperature Probe (shown below).

2. Pulse Oximetry

The SM100 comes standard with a SpO2 lingual sensor and a SpO2 leg/paw sensor.

Designed specifically for use in dentistry, anesthetic recovery, and intensive care, the SpO2 leg/paw sensor can work effectively on patients’ legs and paws, even at sites covered with pigmented tissue and dense fur. The SpO2 leg/paw sensor can also be used for spot checking of the pulse rate and SpO2 in awake and conscious patients.

3. Airway-direct Respiration

The SM100 offers the VetSpecs® proprietary airway-direct respiration technology, which registers respiration directly inside the patient’s airway, and as a result works effectively even when motions are present. To apply, simply insert an airway sensor adapter between the endotracheal tube and the breathing circuit after the patient is intubated.

4. Noninvasive Blood Pressure

The SM100 features the VetSpecs® patented blood pressure technology – volume plethysmography, which employs a cuff to occlude arterial flow and a pulse sensor band to register arterial pulsations. This new breakthrough method is easy-to-use, accurate, and effective in all cats, dogs, and other similar-sized animals. All you need to do is to wrap the cuff and the sensor band on the patient’s leg.

5. Capnography

The SM100 features an optional Bluetooth integrated handheld capnograph – VetSpecs® Capno-5, which offers the state-of-the-art microflow side-stream capnography. For information on the microflow side-stream capnography, refer to the VetSpecs® Capno-5 page.

The Capno-5 is designed for portable independent use anywhere, as well as wireless connection to the Monitor via Bluetooth for integrated multiparameter monitoring in surgery and dentistry.

II. ECG Screening

ECG Screening Mode

The SM100 features an ECG screening mode, displaying four cascaded lines of ECG on one screen. The Monitor can record up to 24 hours of ECG data on the USB flash drive. You can review the saved ECG data on your computer, print through any office printer, and save to your patient database under your existing practice management software system.

III. Blood Pressure Test

Blood Pressure Test Mode

The SM100 features a blood pressure test mode, which displays a real-time pulse rate, pulse waveforms, and systolic, diastolic and mean arterial pressures, plus the averaged readings of all measurements, and saves all registered readings on the USB flash drive. You may review the data on your computer, print out a report through any office printer, and save it in your patient database under your existing practice management software system.
