I. Vital Signs Monitoring

For monitoring in surgery or dentistry, the SM100 enters the multi-parameter monitoring mode, as shown above. It saves all registered waveforms, readings, and trend graphics on a USB flash drive. Take the flash drive to your computer and transfer the saved data, which are compatible with ALL practice management software systems. You can then review the data, and print out a monitoring report, as shown below, through any office printer.

1. Capnography

You can purchase the SM100 with both the VetSpecs® Capno-M and the micro-flow™ side-stream capnography module, or just one of the two and add the other later at any time.

Both the mainstream capnography and the side-stream capnography provide CO2 waveforms, an end-tidal CO2 (EtCO2) reading, a fractional inspired CO2 (FiCO2) reading, a respiratory rate (RR), and a respiratory sound, and are suitable for use in all cats, dogs, and other similar-sized animals.

Originally developed for independent use in intubation, sedation, pre-op preparation, surgery, anesthetic recovery, emergency and critical care, the VetSpecs® Capno-M can be wirelessly connected to the SM100 for integrated multiparameter monitoring in your operating room.

2. Pulse Oximetry

The SM100 offers two veterinary-specific SpO2 sensors, the lingual sensor and the leg/toe sensor. The leg/toe sensor is designed specifically for use in dentistry. Employing a high-power LED, the leg/toe sensor can work effectively even at sites covered with pigmented tissue and dense fur.

3. ECG and Temperature Monitoring

For monitoring in surgery, the SM100 registers ECG, heart rate, and core temperature with an esophageal probe. For monitoring in dentistry, the SM100 registers ECG, heart rate, and rectal temperature with a rectal probe.

After the patient is intubated, insert the probe into the esophagus. Due to its proximity to the heart and ensured good contacts, the probe registers large and clean ECG tracings even in the smallest kittens. With no ECG leads attaching on the patient’s body, ECG monitoring becomes much easier than ever before. The esophageal probes are available in three different sizes, suitable for cats and dogs of all sizes.

4. Blood Pressure Monitoring

The SM100 features the VetSpecs® patented blood pressure (BP) technology – the volume plethysmography. This breakthrough noninvasive BP method, which employs a cuff to occlude arterial flow and a pulse sensor band to register arterial pulsations, has been proven to be easy-to-use, accurate, and effective in all cats, dogs, and other similar-sized animals. All you need to do is to wrap the cuff and the sensor band on a leg of the patient.

II. ECG Testing

ECG Testing Mode

ECG Leads with Flat Clips

The SM100 features an ECG testing mode, which displays cascaded four lines of ECG tracings on one screen, as shown above, and saves all registered ECG tracings on the USB flash drive. You can transfer the saved ECG to your computer, review them, and print through any office printer. You can also save the ECG to your patient database under your existing practice management software system.

III. Blood Pressure Testing

Blood Pressure Testing Mode

The SM100 also features a blood pressure testing mode, which displays systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial pressure readings, a real-time pulse rate, pulse waveforms, and the averages of all measurements on one screen, as shown above, and saves all registered readings on the USB flash drive. You can review the data on your computer, print out a report, and save them in your patient database under your existing practice management software system.
